Our winter season is long (Nov-May) and snow always plenty. We do four ordinary touring days each week during the winter.
For individual guests we offer two distances, 15 and 30km tours. There are no limited nb of guests, you may even join us 1 person. All guests will be given instructions beforehand for steering the sled and there is always 1-2 guides joining the tour. If both/all of you in a group want to sit on only we need to know in advance. However if you have enough drivers it is not necessary. For groups (min 12 persons) we can also arrange 6km tours, preferably on weekdays.
15 km - 2,5 hours in total
15km is an amazing tour starting in the forest and moving up to more open mountain landscape. You will experience both uphill, downhill and flat areas. Our guide will be in front on a leading sled followed by 3 dog teams with two guests on each, maximum 6 persons - or two guides with more guests if you are more than 6 in a group.
On a 15km tour you will be on the sled for an hour and 15minutes up to 1,5 hours, and including instructions and a cosy time in the lavvu afterwards making bread twists and warm drinks the complete activity lasts for 2,5 hours.
The two of you will have your own team of 8 - 10 dogs. One of you will start steering and one will sit on and you swap position at half way stop. That is, if both of you are older than 13yrs and if you both want to try steering. If both of you wish or must sit on, please let us know. If you are 1-3-5.. persons one of you will go on his/her own, unless we have another group with odd number.
Children can join 15km sitting on from 7 years old.
Prices: 15km is nok 1800,-per persons older than 13 yrs. All children younger than 13, nok 1200,- . 15km tours go all Wednesdays and Saturdays. You are welcome to book your tour online straight away. For questions contact Ida on ida@sjusjoenhuskytours.no.
30 km - 3 - 4 hours in total
This is our most exclusive tour. You will be using our very best dogs (the ones that join racing) as well as Leif Tore Lie, our boss, is most often the guide. You will experience and learn a lot of mushing on this day. You are invited to take part in preparations and taking dogs off the line after the tour. Tour goes thought a variety of landscapes and you will even reach Snørvillen, Sjusjøen`s highest top. After touring a warm lunch will be ready for you in the lavvu as well as bread twists, coffee/tea/toddy. Lunch is usually moose burgers with creamy potatoes and salat. Remember to let us know in case of allergies or whether you are vegetarians/vegan - which is no problem of course.
Prices: Nok 2900,- per person. Adults and youth only. 30km tours are on the program Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Time to meet is 11:00 but other times but that may be adjusted for later if you wish. For other days send your request on email to: ida@huskytours.co
A cosy time in our warm lavvu after the tour is always really, really nice. One of us is there and guests meet - across nations, they get warm again and we talk - quite often about our dogs but also about all other things! You are welcome to bring some food if you wish and warm it up on the fire, in addition to bread twists from us.
